Blogmas #14: Shrewsbury Winter Festival

Wednesday, 14 December 2016

Last weekend was the second Shrewsbury Winter Festival. I had gone to the one last year and really enjoyed so jumped at the chance to go again this year.

The only catch to this I would say is that you have to purchase a ticket for £6 whereas every other Christmas market or fayre I have been to recently has been free admission. Seems a bit of a steep price purely for entry considering the volumes of people that would visit it.

But nevertheless it was still a good Christmas market with a wide variety of stands, a lot from local  businesses as well so that's always a good thing.

From crafts to chocolate there was a bit of something for everyone! I especially liked the little fairy doors that one woman was selling. So cute! They even had little wreaths on.
Of course me being me the only things that I purchased were food items, they had some fantastic cakes and chocolate gifts. Not to mention the cheese the flavoured cheese is always amazing!
The only thing that tempted me were these scented candles 8 tea lights for 1 pound is a bargain! Also the cute reindeer tree ornaments. All handmade and you could have a name written on them for free. Such a lovely gift idea!
We walked round the market a couple of times first time round to try the free samples (there was loads). Always to get an idea of the gift stalls available. There were some really cute gifts but some things were a tad on the pricier side. Also there wasn't as many festive stalls as I was anticipating, a lot of the stalls that were there I had seen at the food festival back in the summer. Which isn't a bad thing, but you already knew what you were getting from them.

There was a lot of stalls under canvas though and they definitely made better use of the space this year. Also the weather was far nicer so you weren't squelching round in the mud. They also had some animals there reindeer,  llamas and sheep. There was also a whole craft section for children which was a cute idea.

Overall it was worth a visit and I picked up a lot of food but 6 pounds does seem a bit steep just for entry.

Thanks for Reading!
