A Day Trip to Mostar

Back in May 2022 me and my boyfriend had a holiday to Dubrovnik in Croatia, this is the perfect spot for day trips and sightseeing. From here we took a day trip to Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina this included a guided tour of the city and entrance to multiple sights. Below is what I would recommend you do on a day trip to this wonderful country.

Visit an Ottoman House... Part of our tour included a visit to a traditional Ottoman House. These have been preserved as museums showcasing traditional furnishings such as rugs and ceramics. On this tour we received a free drink at the house in the courtyard I opted for a peppermint tea and my boyfriend bad a traditional coffee. The house was a really interesting part of the tour and really painted a picture of the culture and way of life in the past.

See the Stari Most Bridge... One of the main attractions is the Stari Most Bridge, the bridge is famous for having the widest arch in the world when constructed in 1566/67 and the bridge is also a masterpiece of Ottoman architecture.  If you're really lucky you might even get to see one of the locals diving off the bridge.

Visit a Mosque... We visited a local Mosque on our tour the guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information on the history of the place. We found this to be incredibly informative and an interesting way of learning about their beliefs and culture.

Get a Cup of Bosnian Coffee... Trying a cup of Bosnian Coffee is a must when visiting, this is served in the traditional way prepared in a cezve using finely ground coffee beans without filtering and it is served with a Turkish delight on the side.

Eat the Local Cuisine... There are so many fantastic options of food to try. We visited the Food House in Mostar which had lots of wonderful options and jncluded gluten free, notably the Cevapcici is very popular, however we opted for the Dolma which is peppers stuffed with beef mince and rice, served with mash. This was stunning I would highly recommend!

Shop for Souvenirs... The streets are lined with lots of independent unique stores full of different trinkets and Souvenirs perfect to take home and commemorate your visit.

Have you been to Mostar? What did you enjoy most on your visit, comment below and let me know.
